The voice in your head isn’t always telling you the truth.
You know the one. It whispers that you’re not good enough. That leadership will notice your mistakes. That you’re fooling everyone and it’s only a matter of time before they figure it out.
One of my coaching clients came to feeling lost. Unmotivated. Convinced she had failed.
The self-doubt whispers were getting louder. She felt like she was making mistake after mistake. The worry intensified—what if leadership noticed? She was convinced she wasn’t good enough.
Eventually, those struggles spilled into other areas of her life.
If this sounds familiar, keep reading.
What We Explored Together
The story we tell ourselves about our capabilities shapes everything—how we show up, what opportunities we pursue, and whether we move forward or stay stuck.
We started with mindset work. Simple 1–2-minute exercises throughout the day to interrupt self-doubt and rebuild confidence when she felt triggered. We identified her saboteur patterns—the negative thought loops that were quietly undermining her.
Then we built the infrastructure:
→ Time and energy management systems
→ Daily journaling to capture wins (both small and significant)
→ Reframing exercises to challenge stories that weren’t rooted in facts
The Shift
She feels more aligned with her values and vision. She feels valued, supported, and confident.
And when self-doubt creeps in—as it inevitably does—she now has tools to shift her mindset and change the narrative, this time backed by facts.
Beyond work, she reclaimed her well-being. She gained clarity on the difference between what is true and the story she was telling herself.
We broke everything into small, manageable steps.
When I asked her to grade herself on the goals we set at the beginning, most areas that started as a D are now an A or B.
The Pattern
When motivation fails, infrastructure carries you. But first, you have to believe you’re capable of building it.
And that starts with the story you tell yourself.
Something to Consider
The story you’re telling yourself about your capabilities — is it based on facts, or fear?
